Preparations are underway in Champhai District for the counting of Mizoram election votes
On Monday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) conducted a dress rehearsal for vote counting. Returning Officers of three Assembly Constituencies in Champhai District demonstrated the practical aspects of vote counting, EVM operation, and handling postal ballots at each polling station within their respective constituencies.
Tests were also conducted to ensure that vote counters can perform their tasks with greater ease and accuracy. The rehearsal was overseen by the CEO.
As of November 25, 2023, Champhai District received a total of 944 postal ballot votes. Champhai North AC accounted for 413 votes, Champhai South AC for 346 votes, and East Tuipui AC for 185 votes through postal ballots.
In the three constituencies of the district, a total of 76 service votes were returned.
For the counting of votes in the three Assembly Constituencies in Champhai District, 29 Counting Supervisors and 29 Counting Assistants have been appointed. The counting will take place on December 3, 2023 (Sunday) at 8:00 am at the DC Office, Keifangtlanga Counting Hall.
A separate counting hall is planned for each constituency, with eight counting tables set up for each hall. Votes cast at polling stations will be counted based on polling station numbers. The counting of Postal Ballot votes will commence at 8:00 am, followed by the EVM vote counting at 8:30 am.
